Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011)

 3.5/5

*no spoilers*

so, Harry is done. but i'm not sad. i'm fulfilled like after a good steak. i craved it. i enjoyed it. i devoured it. and now i'm done. my belly is full and i'm satisfied. i don't think i'll be going through withdrawal, but if i ever get another craving, i'll just pop in the movies (or even better, finally read the books) and i'll be fine.

yes, i admit that i HAVE the books, but haven't read them (yet), so my opinion is based purely on what i saw on screen. i watched the movie at the thursday midnight screening in an UltraAVX 3D theatre. (side note: my kelly-belly and i bought our tickets over a month ago. i LOVE the assigned seats. this meant not having to show up 2 hours early to get in line and score a decent spot. and we got to the theatre a breezy 30 minutes prior. dead middle centre seats. f-cking awesome.)

the movie was fun. fast. dark. had great effects. the 3D was subtle and didn't distract. the pace and story and twists kept me interested. and the kids (oh, they're actually big now i guess...) are wonderful. no lameness. and Ron and Hermione finally make out!

teen boners!

but some of the storyline was a bit confusing for me. i was doing my best trying to remember and keep past storylines and characters and events in order so that i could really follow. i know it would have been smoother for me had i read the books, but nevertheless, i didn't stumble - you just have to keep up. it's fine.

what i didn't like were the stupid wand fights. i'm so done with these.

there were also a number of odd moments, like some of the characters' interactions with and to one another were just plain kooky. like the Voldemort hugs, or the Harry peer snubs. or the punching and kicking.

um, WHY PUNCH AND KICK WHEN YOU CAN ZAP WITH MAGIC?

but, i never groaned. i may have raised an eyebrow a couple of times, but not enough for me to be bothered. however, for the record, my die-hard Potter book fan kelly-belly was, um, kind of annoyed. i think i enjoyed it more than she did. she kept groaning throughout the movie in frustration. she said the storyline, the chronology, was all f-cked up in comparison to the book. but i don't have that same attachment, so as a MOVIE, i'm saying it was a lot of fun and so i'm giving it a yes.

but my favourite thing about it?

Alan Rickman.

f-ck. YES.

no one, i repeat *NO ONE* can wear a f-cking cape like Alan Rickman.

Alan Rickman as Severus Snape is SO F-CKING HOT i want to cut my eyes out. every movie he keeps getting hotter. i can't take it.

Alan Rickman makes this movie for me. it's ALL HIM. i think that's why i love these Potter movies so much. it's Alan. his little sneaky lips - the perfect voice that comes out of them...

(omg. i think i need a towel.)

btw, if the Sorting Hat was on my head, i know i'd be placed in Slytherin house. and i know i'd sleep with Professor Snape. it would take me a month or so to build it up, but i'd so do it, and i promise you he'd be allll over it. i'd go into his office after hours and ask some stupid question about some magical root or something... and then... well... let's just say i promise you Snape would finally smile.

i also really like how the movie ended - like, the VERY end. it left me wanting more.

come to think of it, it's like the steak craving. the end makes me want more steak.

no, maybe just more MEAT? but different meat! something that will taste just as good.

like Snape.

Snape!
